Claude's $200 plan is now Ultra, and it drops the 5-hour limit for verified accounts

Anthropic renamed its Max plans. Max 5x is now simply Max at $100 a month, with five times Pro usage in every 5-hour window and every week. Max 20x is now Ultra at $200 a month, and for verified accounts it no longer has a 5-hour session limit at all, only a weekly limit set at ten times Pro. Existing subscribers don't need to do anything. Newer accounts keep a temporary 5-hour limit until they are verified and get an email when it is lifted. Claude's pricing page also lists monthly API credits on both plans.

Why it matters

The 5-hour reset is the limit heavy Claude Code users hit most often in the middle of a long task. On Ultra, a long session now only counts against the weekly budget.

Who it's for

Developers and power users already on Max 20x, and anyone deciding between the $100 and $200 Claude plans.

What it means for you

  1. Open claude.com/pricing and compare Max and Ultra usage and included API credits.
  2. If you're already on Max 20x, you're on Ultra now; check Settings > Usage to see the weekly limit.
  3. If you still see a 5-hour limit on a newer account, watch for Anthropic's email saying it has been removed.

Applies to: Max is $100 a month and Ultra is $200 a month, as listed on claude.com/pricing on October 31, 2026. No 5-hour limit applies to verified Ultra accounts; weekly limits still apply.
