10 people, $3.1M in tokens a month: Spawn says its AI agent 'fleet' shipped 77,000 changes in 30 days

Jacob Sansbury, founder of the AI game platform Spawn, published an X article saying his ten-person company spends about 30x its payroll on AI tokens, $3.1 million last month, and shipped 77,000 substantial changes to players in 30 days, about 108 an hour. The work is done by what he calls the fleet: permanent agents that each own one area, like the engine, finance, bug triage or deploys, keep a memory of what they've done, and start swarms of helper agents. He says the agents fix errors users hit and check their own work, and that it only started working with Anthropic's newer models.

Why it matters

It's one of the clearest public looks at a company run mostly by long-lived agents, and at what that costs in tokens.

Who it's for

Founders, engineering leads and anyone deciding how much work to hand to AI agents.

How to try it

  1. Read Sansbury's article on X for the full setup.
  2. Pick one narrow area, like triaging new bug reports, and give a single agent that job plus a notes file it updates.
  3. Keep a human review step before anything reaches users or production, then loosen it only if results hold up.
  4. Track token spend per agent from day one so costs don't surprise you.

Plan & availability: These are the founder's own figures, not audited. The idea of giving one agent one area it fully owns works with Claude Code, Codex or Grok Bot on your own plan. Checked October 29, 2026.

Note: reported by users on X; we haven't independently confirmed it works in the current version.
