$100 of speech-to-text and text-to-speech, no card: Speechmatics gives new sign-ups a credit that lasts 12 months
Speechmatics, a speech recognition company, now gives every new sign-up on its Free plan a $100 credit grant without asking for a credit card. The credit lasts 12 months and is one balance you can spend on both speech-to-text (batch and realtime transcription) and text-to-speech. Accounts created before August 1, 2026 got a $25 grant instead. Claude Code or any coding agent can hook its API up for transcription or voice output with a few lines of code.
Why it matters
$100 covers a lot of transcription hours for meeting notes, podcast transcripts or a voice agent prototype, and it doesn't expire after a week like many trials.
Who it's for
Developers building transcription, captioning or voice agent features, and creators who need accurate transcripts in many languages.
How to try it
- Sign up for a free Speechmatics account and create an API key in the portal.
- Ask Claude Code to transcribe a sample audio file with Speechmatics' batch API, reading the key from an environment variable.
- Check the usage page in the portal so you know how fast you're spending the $100.
Plan & availability: New accounts on the Free plan get a $100 credit grant with no card required, valid for 12 months and shared across speech-to-text and text-to-speech. Free plan limits apply, and paid usage is billed once credit runs out if you upgrade. Accounts created before August 1, 2026 received $25. Checked on Speechmatics' pricing page and plans documentation on November 5, 2026.
