Alibaba open-sourced qz, a browser agent that works inside the Chrome you're already logged into, and Claude Code can hand it tasks
qz is an open-source browser agent from Alibaba, released under Apache-2.0. It runs in a side panel of your normal Chrome, using the sites you're already signed in to, so it doesn't stop at login walls. You describe a task in one sentence and it clicks through pages, and it can run several tasks at once, each with its own subtasks. Saying 'Save this as a Skill' turns a finished workflow into something you can rerun. You can connect DeepSeek, OpenAI, Claude or a local model, or sign in with a ChatGPT account. Claude Code, Codex and Grok Bot can send it web tasks through its CLI or MCP server.
Why it matters
Many browser agents run in a separate cloud browser and fail as soon as a site asks you to log in. Working inside your own browser fixes that, but it also means the agent acts with your real accounts, so it's worth watching closely.

How to try it
- Install it with npm install --global qz-browser-agent, then run qz connect to link it to Chrome.
- Or give Claude Code the skill with npx skills add alibaba/qz-browser-agent -g.
- Start with a read-only task, such as collecting a table from a site you're signed in to, and watch each step in the side panel.
- If it works well, say 'Save this as a Skill' so you can rerun it later.
Plan & availability: Free and open source (Apache-2.0) on GitHub; you pay your chosen model provider. It's a young project (version 0.1.6 at the time of checking). Because it uses your live sessions, test it on low-stakes accounts first. Repository checked on November 5, 2026.
