Cursor's Agent SDK is out: build a PR-fixing or Slack bot as a folder of code and deploy it with one command
Cursor made its Agent SDK generally available. An agent is a project folder: instructions.md is the prompt, each file in tools/ is a typed TypeScript action, skills/ holds procedures loaded on demand, mcp-connections/ adds MCP tools and channels/ sets where it listens. Agents can wake on GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket pull request, comment and CI events, Slack mentions and DMs, webhooks or a cron schedule. Built-in evals check which tools ran and what the reply looked like, and agent-sdk deploy runs it on Cursor's infrastructure, or you can host it yourself.
Why it matters
Most team bots are fragile scripts with no tests. Treating an agent as a versioned project with evals in CI means you can change its prompt or tools and know whether it got better or worse before it touches real pull requests.
Who it's for
Engineering teams that want a security reviewer, PR autofixer, approval bot or Linear/Jira triager running on their repos or in Slack.
How to try it
- Install the CLI (Node 22.13+): npm install --global @grok/agent-sdk, then run agent-sdk login.
- Run agent-sdk init ./my-bot (add --template to start from one of the examples).
- Run agent-sdk dev to try it in the local playground, then agent-sdk eval to test it.
- Run agent-sdk deploy from the project folder to host it on Cursor, and manage secrets in the dashboard.
Plan & availability: Generally available per Cursor's changelog. Starter templates include a security reviewer, an owners-policy approver, a PR autofixer, and Linear or Jira triagers. Pricing for hosted agents wasn't listed in the announcement.
