Edit Google Docs, Sheets and Slides with Claude in a sidebar
Claude now runs inside Google Docs, Sheets and Slides. It sits in a sidebar, reads the file you have open and edits it in place, and you approve each edit before it lands. The same files can also be opened from inside Claude, so you can move between the two without copy-pasting.
Why it matters
Claude edits the file you have open, with your approval, so there is no copy-paste between apps.
Who it's for
Anyone who writes or analyses in Google Docs, Sheets or Slides.
How to try it
- Open a Google Doc, Sheet or Slides file and open the Claude sidebar.
- Ask for a concrete change: "Tighten the intro to 80 words and turn section 3 into a bulleted list."
- Review each proposed edit and accept or reject it.
- In Sheets, try: "Add a column that flags rows where churn risk is above 0.7."
Plan & availability: Claude in Google Workspace; check Anthropic's plan page for eligibility.
