Faster, tighter Codex sandbox on Windows 11
Codex has a new sandbox mode on Windows built on Microsoft's Execution Containers (MXC). OpenAI says it sets up faster, enforces network rules more strongly and gives finer control over which files Codex can touch. It needs a compatible Windows 11 device.
Why it matters
A stronger sandbox means you can give Codex more autonomy on Windows with less risk to the rest of your machine.
Who it's for
Developers who run Codex on Windows.
How to try it
- Update Codex on a Windows 11 machine.
- Switch to the new sandbox mode in Codex settings (see the OpenAI Developers post).
- Set file and network access to the minimum your project needs.
Plan & availability: Codex on compatible Windows 11 devices.
